What is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)?
To become a Licensed Veterinary Technician, or LVT, you must complete at least 2 years of college classes at an accredited school, in a competitive, science based program. You must then pass two challenging national and state examinations prior to earning your license. A veterinary technician's training and duties are similar to a human nurse. Our technicians are valued team members who help educate our clients and provide compassionate care for our patients. Technicians perform numerous tasks including collection of blood and urine samples, performing lab analysis of urine and fecal specimens, administration and monitoring of anesthesia, perform dental cleanings, and provide nursing care for hospitalized patients.
